People volunteer for a wide variety of reasons.  Some motives are purely heartlfelt; they involve desire to help others.  But it is just fine to benefit from volunteering as well.  In fact, the most successful forms of volunteering are an exchange - when giver and the recipient both come away with something positive.
 
 
Benefits of Volunteering

At NSF, we additionally offer our own benefits to our Auxiliary Members
Meals - one free meal in the cafeteria either before or after each four shift worked
Education/Career Development - take advantage of seminars and courses
Medical:
  • Volunteers receive a free annual TB test and rubella screeening (if appropriate to service area)
  • Flu shots
  • The ability to participate in health screenings and wellness seminars
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • A completely confidential counseling service staffed by licensed mental health professionals
  • There is no cost for up to 8 sessions per problem
Mammograms - Screening mammograms are available for women age 35 and over, who do not have health insurance.
Prescription Drugs - can be obtained through the Homecare Pharmacy at a reduced price
Credit Union - Volunteers may join Northside Hospital's Credit Union and take advantage of its services.
Letters of Recommendation - The Coordinator of Volunteer Services will write these letters after a minimum of 50 hours of quality service.
Scholarships - Three scholarships are available to Auxilians and their immediate families:
  • One awarded annually by Northside Hospital-Forsyth Auxiliary
  • Two by the State Council on Auxiliaries/Volunteers
Gift Ship discounts - members receive 10% discount on regularly priced items.
Insurance - Volunteers receive worker's compensation while on duty.
Tax Deductions - Mileage to and from the hospital, uniforms and membership fees are tax deductible.
Award Pins - Given in recognition of 500 hours of service and in 500 hour increments during the annual Awards Luncheon each April.
Hospital Award Pins - Given for 5, 10, 15 etc years of service during the annual Recognition luncheon held each Spring.


Areas of Volunteer Opportunity


 Volunteers are needed at NSF on a regular basis.  Assignments vary and we always strive for a good match between you and our current needs.

Areas of Volunteer services may include:
Administrative Assistant positions in various departments such as Cardiopulmonary, Pre-Surgical Assessment, Employee Health and Human Resources

GI Laboratory
